The lights were hot, and the auditorium was packed as the Mr. West Deptford candidates waited anxiously behind stage.
The event began with a performance from the Dance Team and was followed by the Mr. West Deptford candidates dancing on stage to the Lion King’s theme song. This special occasion could only mean one thing: Mr. West Deptford Contest.
The annual Mr. West Deptford pageant was held on Friday, January 13th at West Deptford High School. The show began at 7:00 P.M. with tickets costing $5.
There were twelve Mr. West Deptford candidates, each one representing a month in a year.

After each candidate was introduced, the talent portion of the night took place. Each of the twelve candidates performed a skit, danced to a song, or ate cereal in an attempt to entertain the audience.
When the talent portion was over, an intermission took place. At this time, twelve teachers danced on stage in the same way as the twelve candidates. After the intermission, each candidate was escorted onto the stage with his escort.
They answered some questions as a means to demonstrate character. Some of the questions asked were “What kind of toy would you be if you could so choose?” “I would be a kite or an airplane…because I’m “fly,” responded Pinto. A slideshow was then shown to the crowd of the candidate as a child and as they are now.
The candidates also made a video to dedicate to the two teachers that supervised the Mr. West Deptford Contest, Mrs. Kelly and Ms. Foster. that was shown to the audience.
After the video, Mr. West Deptford was chosen and crowned. Leo Impagliazzo was named Mr. West Deptford 2012. Third runner up was Griffin Bonner, Second runner up was Jakubowski, and First runner up was Pinto.
