Since 1797, Jane Austin has brought the dramatic, romantic and tragic love story of Elizabeth Bennett and Fitzwilliam Darcy to readers all over the world in her famous novel, Pride and Prejudice. The classic plot of love, turmoil and family has brought readers tears, laughter and frustration. The vintage persona that the Bennett family portrays connects the audience, whether you feel for the humorous personality of Mrs. Bennet, the beauty of Jane Bennet, the independence of Elizabeth Bennet or the charm of Mr. Bingley, you feel embraced by their lives because of Austin and her writing.Just at 22-years old Jane Austin enlightens a new form of entertainment with the tails of utter infatuation and agitation between the main characters Elizabeth Bennet and Mr. Darcy. As the two find utter annoyance at each other in the first several chapters, the emotions change as the conflicts grow incredibly juicer between the two and their families. With prejudice untimely murdering the sense of compatibility between the two, the inevitable presence of one another is unbreakable due to the chemistry between Ms. Jane Bennett, Elizabeth’s beloved sister, and Mr. Bigley, Mr. Darcy’s dear friend. Other conflicts arrive when Mr. Collins proposes marriage to Elizabeth yet she declines the offer, either due to Mr. Collins and his horrid personality or perhaps because of Elizabeth’s highly regarded sense of independence. As other love interests arrive the singularity of Elizabeth grows and the unidentified love for Mr. Darcy deepens, as does his own for dear Elizabeth. Austin expands the plot with the downfall of Mr. Wickham, a former love interest of Elizabeth and newly wedded to Kitty Bennett, Elizabeth’s sister, and advancing of love between Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth. However Lady Catherine, aunt to Mr. Darcy, forbids the marriage between the two.Pride and Prejudice offers the audience a keen sense of confliction with each character and their decisions that affect the plot at great moments. With the pride that Mr. Darcy holds within himself and his enriches behind his name, causes Elizabeth to take prejudice behind Fitzwilliam’s character. However, the two necessarily fall in love because of their imperfections, which is what makes this novel a classic because the characters can easily be related and because of the beauty behind the language in Jane Austin. The time period that the novel takes place makes the plot and setting incredibly more tasteful because of the loss in modern day technology and the beauty in original love. Instead of texting, the two are contacted by letters. Instead of automobiles, the two must reach each other via carriage, where instead of hours it takes days to see one another. But the feeling of true love is what makes readers so indulged in this novel. It makes readers believe in true love and that nothing will stop at two who are meant to be, with one another.
