Will Steph Curry Be a Hall of Famer?

By Kallie Christy ‘25

Steph Curry was ultimately one of the best players of the 2020/21 season, and arguably of the decade.

Curry is also the greatest shooter of all time. He changed the game of basketball, and he really is one of the most influential players in NBA history.

Curry was selected by the Golden State Warriors in 2009, and he has played with them his entire career. His rookie season was very good as he averaged 17.5 PTS, 5.9 AST, and 4.5 REB with 1.9 STL in 80 games. Already, Curry was showing dominance.

Steph Curry’s breakout season was in 2012/13. It was the first time for Curry to average more than 20 points per game. In the 2012/13 season, Curry averaged 22.9 PTS, 6.9 AST, and 4 REB in 78 games. The Warriors made the playoffs with a 47-35 record. However, once they won the first round against the Denver Nuggets, they lost the second to the San Antonio Spurs.

The 2013/14 season was even better for the Warriors and Curry. He averaged 24 PTS, 8.5 AST, and 4.3 REB with a 51-31 record. Unfortunately, the Warriors lost in the first round to the Clippers.

One of the best seasons for Steph Curry was in the 2014/15 season. Golden State finished the season with the best record in the league with a 67-15 record. During this season, Steph also won his first MVP award. Curry averaged 23.8 PTS, 7.7 AST, and 4.3 REB in 80 games.

These were the first signs of Steph Curry becoming a Hall of Famer.

The best season, which ultimately guarantees Curry a Hall of Fame was 2015/16. Steph and the Warriors set a new record with 73 wins, and Curry became the only MVP that year.

Curry also set a record for the most made threes in a single season with 402, which will hardly be breakable.

Curry won back to back titles in the 2017 and 2018 with Kevin Durant by his side.

During the 2020/21 season, Curry averaged 32 PTS, 5.8 AST, and 5.5 REB in 63 games.

Looking back at all of these stats and accolades, you have to say that Steph Curry will be a Hall of Famer once he retires.

Curry is in the battle for the best point guard ever. He has already proved he is the best shooter, and he looks to top the list for best point guard.

Steph Curry accomplished a lot during his career. He brought back the Warriors dynasty since Wilt Chamberlain’s days, and every time you think about the Warriors, you think of Steph Curry.
