2020 has not been a good year to say the least. First, the world lost one of the most dedicated players to the game of basketball, Kobe Bryant. Then, Covid-19 struck the world by surprise. Covid-19 is a disease that affects the immune system of a person. The United States was shut down. This means no school, no work, many businesses were closed, etc. Many people got fired and business went out of business. We are currently in the first day of June, and there have been riots going on. On May 25, Minneapolis resident George Floyd was pinned face down on the ground, in handcuffs, by a white police officer who pressed his knee against Floyd’s neck for more than eight minutes. Floyd, a 46-year-old black man, was suspected of passing a counterfeit $20 bill. Obviously, this is not right whatsoever, and people across the nation are fighting for their rights. They have made riots and have been chanting “I can’t breath” to cops. They have vandalized many police cars and many business buildings. They have been breaking in and looting places like Target. Many people with different skin colors have argued and chanted that they aren’t being treated the right way because of their color. I completely agree. We are equal no matter the color you are. People with different skin tones want to be treated just like everyone else. We all want justice for not only George Floyd, but for the whole black community. We should all pray every night and hope that justice and equality should be served to everyone. We are all equal.
