Ms. Grossmann’s Advice to Seniors 2020

Congratulations! You are a West Deptford Graduate. I am so proud of you! As you begin this new chapter in your life, you may consider adhering to some of the following principles that have served me well over the years.
Ms. Grossmann

Step out of your comfort zone
Do something that scares you. It doesn’t have to be every day but do it frequently. It’s okay to be afraid. Do it anyway.

See the world
And that doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to travel to other countries. Explore all the places you have never visited in our tri-state area.

Fill your life with as many new experiences as possible
Instead of using your money to acquire more things, spend it on new activities, try new foods, go to new places.

Be a lifelong learner
Read books, watch foreign films and documentaries, learn a new language, read about other religions

Be kind and generous to others
When you are feeling down, do something for someone else. The greatest gift we can give anyone is our time.

Always seek ways to improve your life
You may find a mentor or read books or articles. It’s never too late to become a better person.

Simplify your belongings
What items can you live without? Donate them, sell them, or give them away. Don’t buy more things. Use that money for experiences.

Be a mindful listener
Listen to other’s stories without offering advice or judging.

Embrace Change
It’s going to happen. It makes it easier if we expect it.

When we don’t forgive, the person we hurt the most is ourself.
