Lions Stun Vikings With Walk-Off Touchdown Claiming First Victory in 364 Days and Potentially the Rest of the 2021-22 Season
December 9, 2021
Detroit! Finally! The Lions got their much-needed win in Week 13 to avoid a winless season.
After the fifth-worst start in NFL history (but not in franchise history), they delivered and got the job done.
Jared Goff delivered a thrilling TD strike to Amon-Ra St. Brown as time expired to lift the Lions over Minnesota, 29-27, claiming their first, and last, win of the 2021 season.
The Lions started strong in Sunday’s performance against Minnesota, leading 20-6 at halftime, but the Vikings rallied back in the fourth quarter 27-23 in the fourth quarter. Goff and the Lions received the ball back with 1:50 to go and zero timeouts, but the former Rams quarterback proceeded to drive Detroit all the way to the RedZone where Goff took advantage of the weak coverings of Minnesota’s defense and found St. Brown on fourth-and-two from the Vikings 11-yard line.
The win marked the first, and maybe last, in the “W” column for the Lions. With only five challenging games left, one potentially winnable, Detroit is not likely to get another one in the “W” column.
