Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare had a very big impact on me, and it has taught me a lot in only a short amount of time. The first lesson I learned was that you should fight for the things you love no matter what it takes. What I mean by this is that you should always make sure you are doing things you love in life if they make you happy because if you aren’t then what’s the point. Everyone deserves to have love and happiness in their lives and people will go through extreme levels for it because it is important. The play taught me to not just give up on someone or something I love so dearly, but to fight for them until you can’t anymore. Romeo and Juliet loved each other so much that they would physically kill themselves to be with each other. They would feel more pain being alive without them, so they died together in peace which shows that love is so extremely important and no one should take it for granted. Another thing I learned was to get over feuds and leave them in the past because they are not worth it. Just be kind to everyone. You never know what people are going through in life, so it is really important to be kind to everyone whenever possible. If you have a bumpy past with someone then apologize or forgive that person because it will feel like a weight off your chest. It feels so much better to just be nice to each other. After reading Romeo and Juliet, you can see that the Montagues and Capulets regret not putting their disagreements and differences aside sooner because it led to a terrible disaster for the people they loved the most. The last thing learned was to learn to love people for who they are and not their background or past. I learned that you shouldn’t judge someone because of where they live or because of their family or something they may have done in the past. People always make mistakes, but those mistakes don’t define them. Romeo and Juliet are two people who were never thought to be together. They are two very different people, but when they met, they didn’t know exactly who each other were or their backgrounds. They just fell in love. When they learned each other’s true identity, they were a little skeptical, but they loved each other too much to let each other go. If the world was like this, people would be in love a lot more. This is so important because it really shows that you can love anyone no matter who they are or what they have gone through.
