Lady Eagles JV Soccer Team came out with their first game victory against Gateway on September 15th. The score was 3-0, and the ladies that scored these goals were Karen Knoblock (9th), Kellianne Tachdjian (10th), and Elizabeth Fenton (9th). This was their team’s first win in two years. They worked hard, gave it their all, and came out with a win.

As the new JV coach last year, West Deptford graduate Christine Stetson was thrilled by this win  and was pleased with the team’s effort.

“After coming off of such a tough season last year, getting a win felt even better than I would’ve thought. When you don’t win at all in one season, you learn to appreciate the little things so a win is like winning a championship,” said Stetson.

Coach Stetson has high hopes for her team.  Their record is now 1-2, losing a close game Monday to their biggest rivals, Haddonfield.

Ninth grader Elizabeth Fenton was one of the few girls that made JV the first year of high school.

“Scoring in the first game felt good. We played a great game and were lucky enough to get the ball in the net,” said Fenton.

According to their coach, the  team tries their best in every game, just like all the others, and their record shows it.

“Some of our outstanding  players so far are Liz Douglas (9th), Nicole Pinto (9th), Madison Moreno (9th) , and one of my returning players who has stepped up is Amber Jones (10th). I really look forward to watching each grow throughout their career,” Coach Stetson said.
